The most famous publishing house of Urtext musical editions in the world.
An "urtext" edition of music is a musical text for practical use which reflects the composer's original intentions. In this sense it is different from a critical edition, which often doesn't resolve the different sources of a piece of music in a unique text playable. So an urtext edition is the result of a thorough work of an editor, who normally is a musicologist expert of the composer and the composer's way of expressing himself through music.
G. Henle Verlag - established by the diplomat, politician, industrial magnate, and a pianist himself, Günter Henle (1899–1979) on 20 October 1948 - is the most renowned publishing house of urtext editions all over the world.
